Scholarships South Coast Performing Arts is dedicated to promoting students' disciplined study of high-quality dance instruction. Each year the Serra family awards a number of tuition scholarships known as the Talia Serra Bradley Memorial Scholarship to a select group of students to assist them in furthering their dance education. These scholarships are based solely on financial need and are open to all dancers of SCPA. Scholarships will be awarded to as many dancers as the Serra’s can impact in a significant way, with a base amount of $500 per season. New for 2025 is an Artistry Scholarship based on a dancer’s artistic merit, leadership, and academic achievement. This program will be funded solely through donations to the South Coast Stars Booster Club with a goal of awarding one winner a $1,000 scholarship and three finalists each a $500 scholarship. All applications will be reviewed and recipients will be chosen by an independent panel of experts. This community-centered show is perfect for all ages, celebrating the season through music, dance, and holiday cheer. Don't miss this heartwarming event – it’s the perfect way to kick off the holidays with friends and family! Arrive 30 minutes before show time. 9:30 a.m. show, dancers arrive at 9:00 a.m. 11:15 a.m. show, dancers arrive at 10:45 a.m. Holiday shows are 45 minutes to one hour long. The competition team season preview is approximately one hour and thirty minutes. Parents are not allowed backstage. Dancers will be dropped off at the backstage check-in point. Dancers are to wear all-black dance clothes and add their own holiday flare for the holiday shows. The competition team preview attire is all-black dance wear. Come with hair slicked into a bun, center part with no bangs. Remove all jewelry and nail polish before arriving. Please, no food in the auditorium or backstage areas; water bottles only. Dancers will remain backstage until the entire performance is over. (If your dancer has any problem, we will page you in the auditorium.) Tickets are $8/person/show. LOVETT DANCE CENTER offers classical ballet and contemporary dance training for students wishing to pursue a career in dance as well as those wishing to enrich their lives by participating recreationally. Many of our students join our Performance Groups which compete on a regional as well as national level. We also participate successfully in the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix, the worlds largest Youth International Scholarship competition. Dancers trained at LDC have received scholarships and acceptances to many noteworthy Ballet company schools — Australian Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, School of American Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Princess Grace Academy of Classical Dance (Monaco), Houston Ballet, Ballet West and Washington Ballet to name a few. South Coast Performing Arts’ Ballet Director, Carolyn Lovett, has been named OUTSTANDING TEACHER in 2007, 2013 and 2014, and OUTSTANDING CHOREOGRAPHER in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2015 at the Youth America Grand Prix Regional competitions. In 2011 and 2012, Lovett Dance Center was named OUTSTANDING SCHOOL at the Regional YAGP competition. < Back Madisyn Brillo Faculty: Tap Madisyn Brillo began her dance career around the age of 1 and trained in San Diego at Carlsbad Dance Centre. There she trained for 15 years in tap, jazz, hip hop, ballet, and contemporary. In her professional career from 2016-2022, she was a part of a pre-professional tap dance company known as Reverb Tap Company. There she specifically studied and performed the art of tap dance around the so-cal area. Today Madie works at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure as a parade performer, where she performs as a dancer and with beloved Disney characters. Her ultimate goal is to combine her second passion of filmmaking with dance and bring joy to those all around the world.

< Back Stacey Serra Hammond Owner Stacey started dancing at the age of 10; it has been a significant part of her life ever since. Her background in dance includes being captain of the UC Davis dance team as well as their Administrative Assistant. Through those roles, Stacey earned experience in Marketing & Promotions, Creating Databases, Development and Organization of events. Stacey has a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from the University of California, Davis. Over the past several years, Stacey has continued to learn about business and life through one of her passions, travel. While volunteering for a program in New Zealand, she had the opportunity to help recruit new volunteers and began learning website design and internet marketing. < Back Devyn Lovett Faculty: Ballet California native Devyn Lovett began his Ballet training at the age of 7 under the tutelage of his mother Carolyn Lovett. In 2010 he continued his training under scholarship at the Dmitri Kulev Classical Ballet Academy. Devyn has attended San Francisco Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Houston Ballet and Ballet West summer intensives all under full scholarship. In 2012 Devyn accepted a position with Houston Ballet 2 as a result of his top 12 placement at the Youth America Grand Prix New York City Finals. Devyn later relocated to Utah to dance as a Ballet West trainee. Devyn was a grand prize finalist in the Non Classical dance category of the prestigious Music Center Spotlight Awards in Los Angeles. He has also guest performed in the Anaheim International Dance Festival and the "Gala Di Danza" program of the Spoleto Festival in Italy, both in association with Youth America Grand Prix. He has also performed for the Marina Almayeva School of Classical Ballet and the Vancouver Junior Professional Division Spring Concert in Vancouver Canada. devyn@southcoastperformingarts.com
