Our Solo, Duot Trio Season Finale will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025. A Few Reminders What show is my dancer in? Click here to see show breakdowns. Dancer Drop Off: 1:30 pm Show- Drop off is 12:00-12:30 pm & 5:00 pm Show- Drop off is 4:00-4:30 pm Parents are not allowed backstage. Dancers will be dropped off at the backstage check-in point. Come with hair slicked into a bun, center part with no bangs. Remove all jewelry and nail polish before arriving. No photography or recording is allowed during the shows. Please no food in the auditorium or backstage areas, water bottles only. Dancers will remain backstage until the entire performance is over.   • Rachel Scott | South Coast Performi

    < Back Rachel Scott Faculty: Jazz & Ballet Rachel Scott received her initial dance training at Southland Ballet Company where she studied the Vagonova method under the artistic direction of Salwa Rizkalla. During her adolescent years, she performed in full length ballets and later became a soloist with Festival Ballet Theater where she danced alongside renowned professionals such as ABT's Julie Kent. Rachel continued her dance training on a full scholarship at DeFore Dance Center, and shortly after completing her scholarship, was asked to join their Faculty as a ballet instructor. Rachel accepted, and since then, has been teaching ballet, pointe, and jazz alike for over ten years. Rachel was also one of the original members of Mike Esperanza's BARE Dance Company, and she has performed professionally in musical theatre for several years. She now teaches dance full time, and considers herself beyond blessed to share her passions with the students of South Coast Performing Arts. rachel@southcoastperformingarts.com

  • Sierra Tanji | South Coast Performi

    < Back Sierra Tanji Faculty: Tap Sierra Tanji grew up dancing at SCPA and then moved on to graduate from Cal State University Long Beach with a Bachelor of Science in Dance Science. She has always been interested in injury prevention for young dancers, and one day intends to further this career in kinesiology. However, she also has a strong drive towards movie musicals, and bridging the gap between narrative film and dance film. Sierra recently choreographed, starred in, and co-directed a dance short film called "C'est LA Vie" which premiered at the Long Beach Art Theater and will be featured in more film festivals coming up in 2024. In 2023, Eliza Loran and Tanji created a theatrical concert dance work titled "1:23 AM 4th & Cherry Ave." which fuses vaudeville acting, tap dance, and contemporary dance to form a silly and joyous performance piece. This work won them "Best Performance” at the 2023 Socal Dance and Choreography Dance Festival. Sierra is trained in a variety of dance forms including, tap, contemporary-modern, jazz, hiphop, and ballet. Tanji tries to blend the variety of skills she has in order to create unique and new work to further the art industry in LA film and concert dance. South Coast performing Arts was her second home growing up and she is thrilled to be coming back to create new experiences for the current dancers and students to learn from! Love you SCPA FAM!

  • Megan Buell | South Coast Performi

    < Back Megan Buell Front Office Megan has been part of the South Coast Performing Arts family since enrolling her daughter in dance at the age of three. Now 16, her daughter has grown up in the studio, and Megan has become deeply involved in supporting the dance community. She currently serves as the president of the South Coast Stars non-profit booster club, where she works alongside other dedicated parents to enhance opportunities for the studio’s competitive dancers. In addition to her role at South Coast, she brings a wealth of experience as a former business owner and currently works part-time as a Catering Server at the Honda Center. This variety of roles reflects her passion for helping others and making a positive impact in her communities. Working at the studio’s front desk once a week allows Megan to stay connected with families, sharing her love for the studio and welcoming everyone who walks through the doors. Megan's current passion project is working to expand the non-profit to help spread awareness about mental health in the dance community, and bringing the benefits of dance to the underserved and vulnerable communities. megan@southcoastperformingarts.com

  • Anessa Davies | South Coast Performi

    < Back Anessa Davies Faculty: Tap & Hip Hop Anessa Davies is a current Bachelor of Fine Arts candidate in Dance at California State University, Long Beach, while also working towards a minor in Sociology. Davies is trained in tap, jazz, contemporary, modern, ballet, musical theater, and pom styles. She dedicated two years of her college career to the Long Beach State Spirit Team, under the direction of Rey Lozano. She has been in numerous productions at CSULB, showcasing her talent in two student works, one MFA thesis, and one faculty work, alongside esteemed tap guest artist Steve Zee. Along with Steve Zee, Anessa has trained under Andrew Vaca, Danzel Thompson-Stout, Rebecca Lemme, Steven Sofia, and many more. She made her dance film debut this past March, under choreographer Sierra Tanji, with the title of C'est La Vie. Anessa had the opportunity to choreograph a jazz piece titled Coffee For Two, for the 2024 Contemporary Concert at CSULB.

    LOVETT DANCE CENTER offers classical ballet and contemporary dance training for students wishing to pursue a career in dance as well as those wishing to enrich their lives by participating recreationally. Many of our students join our Performance Groups which compete on a regional as well as national level. We also participate successfully in the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix, the worlds largest Youth International Scholarship competition. Dancers trained at LDC have received scholarships and acceptances to many noteworthy Ballet company schools — Australian Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, School of American Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Princess Grace Academy of Classical Dance (Monaco), Houston Ballet, Ballet West and Washington Ballet to name a few. South Coast Performing Arts’ Ballet Director, Carolyn Lovett, has been named OUTSTANDING TEACHER in 2007, 2013 and 2014, and OUTSTANDING CHOREOGRAPHER in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2015 at the Youth America Grand Prix Regional competitions. In 2011 and 2012, Lovett Dance Center was named OUTSTANDING SCHOOL at the Regional YAGP competition.     < Back MJ Wolff Creative Director Originally from Charleston, SC, MJ's passion for dance ignited at the age of three and has since been the driving force of her journey. For a decade, she dedicated herself to competitive dancing, seamlessly transitioning this dedication into her college career. As the captain and choreographer of the Coastal Carolina University’s Coastelttes Dance Team, she performed alongside the Spirit of the Chanticleer Marching Band, captivating audiences at sporting events. Her leadership extended to Spirit Productions, where she served as dance captain for six remarkable years, showcasing her talent in productions such as Illusions of Magic, Cirque Extreme, Christmas Wonderland, and Hot Jersey Nights. MJ's expertise as a dance educator spans fifteen years, marked by her recent accomplishments at the 2023 Industry Dance Awards for her choreography and at World of Dance with ThaMost performing under the guidance of Jonathan Sison. Currently pursuing an MFA in Dance at CSULB, MJ's dedication to her craft continues to evolve. Additionally, she holds the role of Creative Director at South Coast Performing Arts in Tustin, CA, where she inspires and nurtures emerging artists in the dance community. mj@southcoastperformingarts.com
