Mona Lenihan- Costanzo has been teaching for the past 32 years (obviously beginning as a child) and loving every minute of it! She has taught Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Drama and Pilates. Choreographic credits include Cinderella, The Firebird, The Four Seasons, and Alice in Wonderland as well as local Musical Theatre productions of “Annie”, “Aladdin” “the Jungle Book”, “Dear Edwina” and “Beauty and the Beast”.
She received an A.A. in Dance and Musical Theater, graduating with high honors from the State University of N.Y. at Rockland. She went on to train in Theatre at the famed Herbert Bergdorf Studio. Mona has also trained at The New York Ballet Conservatory, Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance and Broadway Dance Center. Mona has taught dance at Newport Ballet Academy and Irvine Dance Academy for 19 years.
Mona appeared in many off Broadway, dinner theatre and summer stock productions not to mention in movies and television shows with such notable actors as Bruce Willis, Charlie Sheen, Cybil Shepherd and Mark Harmon, among others.
Mona is a certified Pilates instructor earning the Karen Shanley Award for Dance Conditioning for excellence in Pilates as well as the Silver Award for community service and leadership for her work using Pilates in the Adapted PE program at Orange Coast College. Mona is a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner currently working in Holistic wellness doing nutritional counseling and lecturing as well as using Pilates for rehabilitation, therapeutic exercise and neuromuscular reeducation.
She is mother to three beautiful children (young adults) Christopher, Olivia and Daniel. As a dancer, choreographer, teacher Mona realizes the importance of correct body usage and a love of dance; her classes emphasize techniques and understanding which support proper development of the budding dancer.
